Roivant has an approved drug and cash, but the trials that matter are still ahead
Roivant now has an approved product and a large cash balance, but its value still depends on unfinished trials across several subsidiaries. The next six months bring several readouts, and the Moderna appeal could add up to $1.3 billion. This is a group of separate bets, and each one will be judged on its own data.

- Validated in one drug. Brepocitinib won FDA approval in dermatomyositis; IMVT-1402 and mosliciguat have no efficacy data to match yet.
- Odds
- Mixed so far. Brepocitinib cleared phase 3 in dermatomyositis, while batoclimab missed in thyroid eye disease. Base rates give 57.8% from phase 3 to filing.
- Balance sheet
- Well funded for now. $3,842.1 million at June 30 before a $771.6 million Moderna receipt, against a quarterly net loss of $290.6 million.
- Main risk
- Losses on thin revenue. Revenue was $1.44 million and operating expenses $367.8 million in the June quarter.
- Watch next
- Several readouts in 2H 2026. Uveitis phase 3, mosliciguat phase 2 and IMVT-1402 cutaneous lupus data are all due.

The court issued a claim construction ruling in September 2025. In July 2026 the two filed three more lawsuits, in Canada and before the Unified Patent Court. Roivant says it cannot predict timing or outcome.

Opinion · Devil's advocate
Fact-check-o-meter
Roivant's uveitis win is clean on the primary endpoint, but the 'most effective' claim is a cross-trial call
Roivant's filings and releases agree on the numbers, and it reported the batoclimab failures plainly. The gaps are in framing: the new uveitis release compares brepocitinib with other drugs' trials it did not run, and the cash runway message sits beside a 10-Q that says more capital may be needed.
Science · weight medium
Uveitis results are strong, but "most effective" compares across trials
The company said: "The magnitude and breadth of benefit observed across every ranked endpoint, compared with results reported in registrational trials of existing NIU therapies, suggest brepocitinib has the potential to be the most effective systemic, non-steroid treatment option for NIU" source
The record says: ClinicalTrials.gov lists CLARITY as randomized and quadruple-masked with 371 participants and a single primary outcome, "Time to treatment failure on or after Period 1 Week 6 up to Period 1 Week 48", matching the release. The release adds that the results came "despite a substantially more aggressive steroid taper than precedent NIU trials", and that 78.7% and 77.8% of placebo patients had treatment failure at Week 48. source
Our view: The head-to-placebo result is solid: two identical trials, hazard ratios of 0.27 and 0.22. The comparison with other drugs is not head-to-head, and a faster steroid taper pushes placebo failure up, which widens the gap in any trial. Subgroup consistency is stated in the release without numbers.

Batoclimab failure reported plainly; the dosing explanation is post hoc
The company said: "Immunovant's Phase 3 studies of batoclimab in thyroid eye disease (TED) each failed to meet their primary endpoint; safety results were consistent with previous findings" source
The record says: The release says the studies "failed to meet their primary endpoint of ≥2mm proptosis responder rate at Week 24" and that patients "had greater levels of proptosis improvement from baseline after the initial 12-week high-dose period than after the following 12-week low-dose period, supporting the benefit of deeper IgG suppression." The 10-Q carries a $42.5 million accrual of non-cancelable costs tied to the discontinuation of batoclimab. source
Our view: The failure is stated in the first bullet, which is the right way to do it. The deeper-suppression reading compares periods inside the same trials after the primary endpoint was missed, so it is a hypothesis. It matters because IMVT-1402, Immunovant's next FcRn drug, is being advanced on the same mechanism.

Runway into profitability, beside a 10-Q that allows for more capital
The company said: "Roivant reported consolidated cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and marketable securities of $3.9 billion as of June 30, 2026, excluding the cash payment received from Moderna in July, supporting cash runway into profitability." source
The record says: The 10-Q puts cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities at "approximately $3.8 billion" (the release adds restricted cash), net loss for the quarter at $290.6 million, and net cash used in operating activities at $270,504 thousand. It also says "Management expects to incur additional losses in the future to fund its operations and conduct product research and development and may require additional capital to fully implement its business plan." The filing contains no going-concern language. source
Our view: The two documents are consistent: the same runway sentence appears in the 10-Q's business update. But the 10-Q's standard caution on additional capital is the more complete statement, and the $208.7 million of buybacks in the quarter use the same cash.
Press release vs filing · weight medium
Moderna $950 million is not all Roivant's
The company said: "Genevant and Arbutus received $950 million from Moderna in July 2026 under $2.25 billion settlement, with additional $1.3 billion contingent on favorable resolution of Moderna's § 1498 appeal" source
The record says: The 10-Q says "Genevant received $771.6 million for its portion of the Fixed Payment" and that its parent "expects to distribute up to $188 million of the Fixed Payment to non-RSL common shareholders of GSL, including Arbutus, and holders of equity awards". Roivant held 83% of the parent as of June 30, 2026. The contingent payment depends on the Federal Circuit's § 1498 ruling, and under some outcomes Genevant and Arbutus must return it to Moderna with interest. source
Our view: The release is accurate about who received the money. For an investor in Roivant, the relevant figure is the amount left after the up-to-$188 million distribution and $22.9 million of settlement bonuses the 10-Q accrues, and the $1.3 billion is a legal outcome, not cash in hand.
Legal and disclosure record · weight low
No securities litigation disclosed; Roivant units are plaintiffs in patent suits
The record says: Part II, Item 1 of the 10-Q says "We do not currently, however, expect such legal proceedings to have a material adverse effect on our business, operating results or financial condition." Note 5 describes the March 3, 2026 settlement of Genevant and Arbutus patent suits against Moderna in the U.S. and internationally, in which "Moderna consented to entry of a judgment of infringement and of a judgment of no invalidity of four Genevant/Arbutus patents". The release adds new Genevant and Arbutus suits against Pfizer and BioNTech in Canada and before the Unified Patent Court. No securities litigation or enforcement disclosed in the latest filing. source
Our view: Roivant's documented legal exposure is on the plaintiff side. The Pfizer and BioNTech cases are early, and the Moderna contingent payment is the one open item with a dollar figure attached.
