Axsome bets on Auvelity's elderly launch to turn profitable
Axsome is growing revenue near 50% a year on Auvelity and now has a second Auvelity indication in Alzheimer's agitation. The question is whether that growth outruns rising selling costs before the next wave of phase 3 readouts, starting with ENGAGE in the fourth quarter.

Opinion only. The Investor Rank is aibio.space's opinion of the company's business position, drawn from the public sources on this page. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security and it is not investment advice. It does not consider the share price, valuation or your circumstances, and it can change at any time. Payments from companies never affect it. How the rank works.
- Technology
- Known molecules, new uses. Auvelity, solriamfetol and reboxetine are being extended into new psychiatric and neurological diseases.
- Odds
- Good on filings, mixed on trials. AXS-12 has a May 2027 FDA date with no panel planned, while several phase 3 readouts are still ahead.
- Balance sheet
- Adequate but thin. Cash was $319.9 million at June 30 against $190 million of debt (the $70 million revolver draw was repaid in July), and the company says this funds it into cash flow positivity.
- Main risk
- Dependence on Auvelity. One drug made about 83% of second-quarter product revenue, and losses persist as selling costs rise.
- Watch next
- Two near dates. Third-quarter results on Nov. 2 and ENGAGE binge eating data in the fourth quarter of 2026.
