Acadia's products carry the quarter while its pipeline story gets harder
Acadia is profitable, with revenue guidance raised in August and $956.5 million of cash. The RADIANT result on Sept 24 weakened the pipeline case, and Nuplazid's composition patent runs only into 2030. The business supports itself; the open question is what replaces Nuplazid's growth.

- Technology
- Mixed. Two marketed drugs work commercially, while remlifanserin's phase 2 trended better than placebo but narrowly missed its primary endpoint.
- Odds
- Lower than before. The 60 mg dose missed at p=0.0603, and Citi cut its success estimate for the drug to 20% from 35%.
- Balance sheet
- Strong. $956.5 million in cash and investments, net income of $31.5 million in the second quarter, and no runway concern.
- Main risk
- Pipeline concentration. Remlifanserin's phase 3 results carry the growth story beyond Nuplazid's 2030 composition patent expiry.

Acadia called a missed phase 2 primary endpoint "Phase 3 enabling"
Acadia's commercial reporting lines up with its 10-Q, and its non-GAAP comparisons are reconciled. The gap is in the Sept. 24 RADIANT release, whose headline and bullets lead with "phase 3 enabling" trends while the registered primary endpoint was missed and the supportive secondary result is nominal. A certified securities class action over an earlier dementia psychosis filing remains pending per the 10-Q.
Press release vs filing · weight high
Headline frames a primary endpoint miss as phase 3 enabling
The company said: "Acadia Pharmaceuticals Announces Phase 3 Enabling Topline Results from Phase 2 RADIANT Study of Remlifanserin for the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease Psychosis (ADP)" source
The record says: ClinicalTrials.gov lists a single primary outcome for the RADIANT master protocol: SAPS-H+D total score change from baseline "From baseline to Week 6". The release's own second bullet says the study "Narrowly missed primary endpoint of SAPS H+D (p=0.0603)", with a standardized effect size of 0.26 for 60 mg. source
Our view: The release does disclose the miss, but only after a headline and lead bullet built on trends. Investors reading headlines alone would not learn that the primary endpoint was missed.
Science · weight high
Support rests on a nominal secondary and one surviving dose
The company said: "Meaningful and consistent efficacy trends across endpoints support continuing with Phase 3 development of 60 mg once daily remlifanserin in ADP, with demonstrated evidence of dose effect" source
The record says: The release gives the CGI-S-ADP result as "p=0.0077 (nominal)" and says "The 30 mg dose showed minimal improvement across endpoints compared to placebo." Acadia is "implementing amendments to the Phase 3 program, including removing the 30 mg dosage arm." The release gives no patient numbers. ClinicalTrials.gov describes three seamlessly enrolling substudies with an estimated 1,074 participants and primary completion in January 2028. source
Our view: A nominal p value on a secondary endpoint after a primary miss is hypothesis generating, not confirmation. The phase 3 studies now test a single dose, and full data, including sample sizes, are due at CTAD in November.

Nuplazid growth headline uses an adjusted base
The company said: "Second quarter NUPLAZID GAAP net sales of $183 million, up 10% year-over-year on a non-GAAP adjusted basis" source
The record says: The body of the same release says GAAP Nuplazid sales were "up 9% compared to GAAP net product sales of $168 million for the second quarter of 2025", and it reconciles the adjusted figure to an IRA rebate accrual change. The 10-Q balance sheet shows the same $956 million cash and investments total ($385.0 million cash plus $571.5 million securities). source
Our view: This is a small and fully reconciled difference. Financial messaging is otherwise consistent with the 10-Q.
Legal and disclosure record · weight medium
Certified securities class action is still pending
The record says: Note 9 of the 10-Q discloses City of Birmingham Relief Retirement Systems v. Acadia Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Case No. 21-cv-0762, filed April 19, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. The amended complaint "generally alleges" nondisclosure of "statistical and design deficiencies" in the pimavanserin dementia-related psychosis sNDA. The court certified a class on March 11, 2024, and a final pretrial conference was scheduled for Sept. 2, 2026. An opt-out suit (Alger Dynamic Opportunities Fund, Case No. 24-cv-00451) is also pending, and a derivative suit (Kanner et al v. Biggar et al., Case No. 23-cv-2293) has a proposed settlement with governance reforms and $1.5 million in fees paid by the insurer, subject to court approval. source
Our view: These are allegations in complaints. The 10-Q says the company cannot predict the outcome, cannot estimate possible losses and has accrued only attorneys' fees incurred to date. The class action concerns an earlier sNDA for dementia-related psychosis.
