Neurocrine now has three products and much less cash
Neurocrine went from one big product to three since late 2024, and the $2.9 billion Soleno purchase left it with $481.7 million of cash and a $1.0 billion undrawn revolver. Growth is strong, but expenses are rising faster than Ingrezza sales and the largest product faces pricing pressure from Medicare negotiation. The 2027 Phase 3 readouts in depression and schizophrenia are the next clinical test.

- Technology
- Three marketed first-in-class drugs. Ingrezza, Crenessity and Vykat XR produced $954 million of product sales in Q2, with muscarinic and depression candidates in Phase 3.
- Odds
- Strong commercial odds, open clinical ones. Crenessity and Vykat XR are growing, but the 2027 depression and schizophrenia readouts face base rates of 57.8% for Phase 3 to filing across all diseases.
- Balance sheet
- Cash was spent on Soleno. Cash and securities fell to $481.7 million at June 30 from $2.54 billion, with a $1.0 billion undrawn revolver.
- Main risk
- Ingrezza concentration and Medicare pricing. About three-quarters of product revenue comes from one drug whose main competitor now has a lower negotiated Medicare price.
- Watch next
- Q3 results, then 2027 data. The third-quarter report shows the first full quarter of Vykat XR, and Phase 3 readouts for osavampator and direclidine are due in 2027.

Fact-check-o-meter
Neurocrine's growth story holds up, but the results release leaves out the DOJ inquiry and leans on non-GAAP and post hoc framing
The revenue and guidance figures in the Q2 release match the 10-Q. What the release did not mention is more notable: a DOJ civil investigative demand about Ingrezza marketing and a securities class action against Soleno that Neurocrine inherited, both described in the 10-Q. Non-GAAP net income is roughly double GAAP, and the tardive dyskinesia data cited is a post hoc look at an open-label safety study.
Legal and disclosure record · weight high
DOJ civil investigative demand on Ingrezza is in the 10-Q, not the release
The record says: "In August 2025, we received a civil investigative demand from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting certain documents and information related to our sales and marketing of INGREZZA. We are cooperating with the DOJ's request. No assurance can be given as to the timing or outcome of the DOJ's investigation." The same note describes a putative class action against Soleno, now a Neurocrine subsidiary, filed on March 6, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California under Sections 10(b) and 20(a), with a class period of March 26, 2025 through November 4, 2025, and a motion to dismiss due October 30, 2026. source
Our view: Neither matter appears in the Q2 results release. The Ingrezza inquiry touches the company's largest product, at $716 million in the quarter, and the filing gives no timeline. The Soleno suit predates the acquisition and names Soleno and its managers, according to the filing.
Press release vs filing · weight low
Non-GAAP net income is about double GAAP in the quarter
The company said: "Second-quarter 2026 Non-GAAP net income and earnings per share were $297 million and $2.85, respectively, compared with $166 million and $1.65, respectively, for second-quarter 2025." source
The record says: GAAP net income for the quarter was $144 million. The release says the non-GAAP figures exclude "non-cash stock-based compensation expense, amortization expense related to acquired intangible assets, amortization expense related to acquisition-date inventory fair value step-up" and "acquisition-related transaction and integration costs", among other items. The release also says the company "recorded approximately $2.2 billion of intellectual property related to VYKAT XR to the balance sheet, which will be amortized over an expected life of 16 years". source
Our view: The reconciliation is in the release, so this is a framing point rather than an omission. A quarter with an acquisition inflates the gap, but stock compensation is excluded every period, and the new VYKAT intangible will keep GAAP earnings below non-GAAP for years.
Press release vs filing · weight medium
Cash fell sharply after Soleno, which the headline figures do not show
The company said: "Total revenues for the second quarter 2026 were $959 million, compared with $688 million in the prior-year period representing 39% year-over-year growth." source
The record says: The 10-Q says "Cash paid for the acquisition, net of cash acquired, was approximately $2.36 billion and was funded from available liquidity". It also lists a risk factor: "We may not successfully integrate Soleno Therapeutics. Inc. (Soleno) or realize the anticipated benefits of the acquisition. which could adversely affect our business and financial condition." source
Our view: Revenue growth of 39% includes only about six weeks of VYKAT XR ($54 million), and the release adds a pro forma figure of $998 million. The $1.0 billion undrawn credit line is the backstop after cash dropped from $2.54 billion to $481.7 million, per the company's own figures.
Science · weight low
The tardive dyskinesia data cited is post hoc, from an open-label safety study
The company said: "Announced new post-hoc data from the KINECT ® 4 clinical trial demonstrating that adults with tardive dyskinesia treated with INGREZZA capsules experienced clinically meaningful and robust improvements in involuntary movement severity, including those who did not meet the stringent symptomatic remission threshold." source
The record says: ClinicalTrials.gov lists KINECT 4 as a single-group, non-randomized study with masking "NONE" and 167 participants. Its one primary outcome is "Number of Participants Monitored for Long-Term Safety of Valbenazine". source
Our view: A post hoc analysis of an open-label safety study cannot show efficacy against placebo. It may help prescribers, but it should not be read as new proof of benefit.
