Recursion's AI engine finally has clinical data to point to
Recursion has produced its first convincing clinical data, in a rare disease, and has cash into 2029 after a dilutive October raise. The platform's value now depends on REC-4881 getting a clear registrational path and REC-1245 confirming activity in endometrial cancer.

- Technology
- Two clinical signals now. REC-4881 cut FAP polyp burden in 87% of patients and REC-1245 produced three partial responses, both from Recursion's own discovery engine.
- Odds
- Early and small. REC-4881 is in phase 1b/2 with 15 efficacy patients, and phase 2 drugs reach phase 3 about 28.9% of the time per BIO data.
- Balance sheet
- Funded into 2029. About $561 million at Sept. 30 plus a $200 million October raise, against a quarterly loss near $131 million.
- Main risk
- Registrational path for REC-4881. The FDA has not yet set the trial design, and the dataset is single-arm.
- Watch next
- Nov. 2 CGA-IGC data. Recursion also promises registrational path details for REC-4881 later in 2026.

Fact-check-o-meter
Recursion's October data release is positive, but small, uncontrolled and loosely reconciled
Recursion's October 15 release and its offering prospectus supplement describe the same TUPELO and DAHLIA data, but the patient counts do not match and the liver cancer response came with toxicity the release left out. The longer cash runway rests on the new raise and about $86 million of at-the-market sales, which only the prospectus spells out. No securities litigation is disclosed.

Runway moves from early 2028 to 2029 on new equity
The company said: "Expected Cash Runway Extended into 2029, including proceeds from the concurrently announced offering" source
The record says: The August 5 release said: "Based on current operating plans with no additional financing, the Company continues to expect its cash runway to extend into early 2028." The October prospectus supplement adds: "The preliminary cash balance includes approximately $86 million in net proceeds from the sale of 23,696,330 shares of Class A Common Stock under our at-the-market program with TD Securities (USA) LLC during the quarter ended September 30, 2026." On runway, the 10-Q says only that cash "will be sufficient to fund our operations for at least the next twelve months." source
Our view: The release does say the 2029 figure includes the offering, so this is not hidden. What it leaves out is that the $561 million Q3 cash balance already contains roughly $86 million raised through the at-the-market program. The runway extension comes mainly from new equity, and dilution comes with it. The August release also lowered 2026 cash operating expense guidance to under $375 million from under $390 million.

REC-4881 patient count differs between release and prospectus
The company said: "After 12 weeks of treatment, 87% of patients (13 of 15) had reductions in total polyp burden, with a 47% median reduction" source
The record says: The prospectus supplement says: "With a data cutoff of September 10, 2026, we reported on sixteen (16) efficacy-evaluable patients," and "Of the 16 efficacy-evaluable patients, 87% of patients achieved reductions in total polyp burden, with a 47% median reduction in total polyp burden at week 13." It also says the 16 "reflect 4 additional efficacy-evaluable patients from the last update." source
Our view: 13 of 15 is 87%, while 87% of 16 does not come out to a whole number of patients. One of the two documents likely has a typo or uses a different counting rule. The November 2 CGA-IGC presentation should settle which denominator is right.
Science · weight high
REC-4881 evidence is an open-label, single-arm phase 1b/2
The company said: "REC-4881 Phase 1b/2 Data Update: Deep, durable polyp burden reductions reproduced in the expanded adult FAP population (18+), with a 47% median reduction after 12 weeks of treatment and 85% maintaining reductions below baseline after 12 weeks off treatment." source
The record says: The prospectus describes "a multi-center, open-label trial" in which patients get 4 mg daily for twelve weeks, then no treatment for twelve weeks, with polyp burden "defined as the sum of all polyp diameters." ClinicalTrials.gov lists TUPELO (NCT05552755) as a non-randomized, unmasked Phase 1/2 with an estimated 67 participants, and its listed primary outcomes include safety measures alongside "Percent Change From Baseline in Polyp Burden." The release reports 4 patients discontinuing for adverse events among 26 safety-evaluable patients. source
Our view: Reductions in a sum-of-diameters measure from a small group with no control arm are a reasonable early signal, not proof of benefit over natural history. The release plans a registrational trial for 2H 2027 "pending FDA discussions," so what FDA accepts as the endpoint is still open.
Science · weight medium
REC-1245 response headline omits the toxicity behind the liver cancer response
The company said: "Encouraging monotherapy activity with 2 confirmed partial responses in endometrial cancer, 1 unconfirmed response in liver cancer, and a 91.7% disease control rate (11/12) at doses ≥45 mg" source
The record says: The prospectus states the liver cancer patient "achieved an unconfirmed PR with a 55.9% reduction at Week 9, but withdrew from the trial due to toxicity, including Grade 3 stomatitis, Grade 4 thrombocytopenia and febrile neutropenia." Across all doses, "14 of 21 efficacy-evaluable patients (66.7%) achieved disease control at week 9," and "eight patients (26.7%) experienced Grade 3 or higher TRAEs." source
Our view: The 91.7% figure applies to 12 patients at the two highest tested doses, and the all-dose rate is lower. The 45 mg choice looks reasoned, but the expansion dose has only 10 patients behind its reported safety record, which includes two Grade 3 treatment-related events at 45 mg. This is a phase 1 dose-finding study, and the release says so.

Landlord lawsuit in Utah; no securities litigation
The record says: Note 7 of the 10-Q discloses Industry Office SLC, LLC v. Recursion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Case No. 230904627, Third District Court for Salt Lake County, Utah, filed June 23, 2023, alleging anticipatory repudiation and breach of contract over a lab lease. Recursion filed counterclaims in September 2023. The filing says the company "had no liability recorded for these events as an unfavorable outcome was not probable" and that the parties "are currently engaged in discovery." No securities litigation or enforcement disclosed in the latest filing. source
Our view: A real-estate dispute with an unquantified range of damages is the only documented matter. It is not tied to the science or the financing.
