We have not published a story on Assembly Biosciences yet. When there is news, it will appear here.
Assembly Biosciences is a biotechnology company developing therapeutics for serious viral diseases. Its clinical-stage pipeline includes two long-acting helicase-primase inhibitors (HPIs) for recurrent genital herpes, an orally bioavailable hepatitis delta virus (HDV) entry inhibitor, and a next-generation capsid assembly modulator designed to disrupt the replication cycle of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Its pipeline also includes an oral broad-spectrum non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor for transplant-associated herpesviruses, which is undergoing studies to enable a regulatory filing. In December 2025, Gilead Sciences, Inc. exercised its option under the Gilead Collaboration to license the HPI program, including the ABI-1179 and ABI-5366 candidates. The company says it will decide whether to opt in to a profit-share once Gilead provides a clinical development plan and budget. Assembly is completing Phase 2 preparation activities for ABI-6250 in HDV, with Phase 2 initiation expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, and has started a structured process to find partners for ABI-4334 in HBV. The text notes that no new drugs have been approved to treat genital herpes in the United States and the EU4/UK for more than 25 years.
