A Delaware stockholder class action against Protalix BioTherapeutics and its board, Thomas v. Bashan, et al., was dismissed as to the plaintiff after the board amended the bylaws. Protalix agreed to pay $160,000 in fees and expenses to the plaintiff's counsel, and it denies the allegations.
Protalix BioTherapeutics is a commercial stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, production and commercialization of therapeutics for rare diseases with significant unmet needs. Its proprietary ProCellEx plant cell-based protein expression system is used to manufacture its approved products and its pipeline candidates. The company's two commercial products are enzyme replacement therapies: Elelyso, for Gaucher disease, and Elfabrio, for Fabry disease. Elelyso was approved by the FDA in 2012 and is approved in more than 40 markets. Pfizer holds worldwide rights to commercialize Elelyso other than in Brazil, where Fiocruz markets it as BioManguinhos alfataliglicerase. In March 2026 the European Commission ratified a positive opinion approving the 2 mg/kg E4W dosing regimen of pegunigalsidase alfa for Fabry disease, after an appeal of an October 2025 negative opinion. The company is turning its focus to early-stage candidates for renal diseases and other high unmet need indications, including PEGylated uricase PRX-115 for uncontrolled gout, which is in a Phase 2 RELEASE study after a Phase 1 first-in-human trial, and long-acting DNase I PRX-119 for NETs-related diseases.
