Q32 Bio Inc. reported financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, on May 5, 2026, and provided a corporate update. The company said it has dosed the first patient in the open-label extension of Part B of its SIGNAL-AA trial. Cash and cash equivalents were $50.8 million as of March 31, 2026, which excludes $14.2 million in gross proceeds from at-the-market sales received after the end of the quarter.

Clinical progress

Part B of SIGNAL-AA is an open-label Phase 2a trial of bempikibart in 33 patients with severe or very severe alopecia areata. The company said it remained on track for 36-week topline data in mid-2026. The study has no placebo group, and its 36-week topline data were still pending.

Patients receive a loading regimen of 200mg weekly for four doses, followed by 200mg every other week over a 32-week maintenance period. Preliminary pharmacokinetic data suggested steady state concentration was reached at least nine weeks earlier than in Part A, because of the loading regimen.

Chief Executive Officer Jodie Morrison announced that the first patient had been dosed in the extension portion of Part B, which is a procedural milestone and says nothing yet about results. The Part A open-label extension is complete. Q32 Bio initiated that extension in April 2025 for eligible patients who had completed Part A, citing continued data suggesting a remittive effect and durable responses. The company intends to report its findings together with the Part B 36-week topline results in mid-2026.

Financing

In February 2026, the company completed a registered direct offering of 1,666,679 shares of common stock and pre-funded warrants to purchase up to 1,025,654 shares. The offering price was $3.90 per share and $3.8999 per pre-funded warrant. Gross proceeds were approximately $10.5 million, before offering expenses of approximately $0.1 million. The release says the transaction was led by a new institutional investor, with participation from an existing dedicated public institutional investor. The release does not name an underwriter, placement agent or sales agent for either transaction.

The company also received $14.2 million in gross proceeds from sales under its at-the-market program after the end of the quarter. It said its cash at March 31, 2026, the guaranteed near-term milestone payments from the ADX-097 asset sale and the at-the-market proceeds are expected to fund operations into the first half of 2028. That projection is the company's own and leans on milestone payments from a sale rather than on revenue. It raised money twice in the period, through the February offering at $3.90 a share with pre-funded warrants and then at-the-market sales, and each adds shares for existing holders.

Financial results

Research and development expenses were $3.2 million for the three months ended March 31, 2026, compared with $7.1 million a year earlier. The company said the decrease reflected lower personnel-related costs from reduced headcount, lower bempikibart clinical expense, and lower ADX-097 spending after the program was sold in November 2025. The lower loss therefore comes partly from cutting staff and clinical spending, not from progress.

General and administrative expenses were $4.5 million, compared with $5.1 million, a decrease the company attributed mainly to lower legal and consulting costs. The net loss was $7.6 million, or $0.54 per basic and diluted share, compared with $11.0 million, or $0.90 per share, a year earlier.

Background from the annual report

For 2025, Q32 Bio reported revenue of $53.7 million, compared with no revenue in 2024. Research and development expense was $19.2 million in 2025 and $48.1 million in 2024. The company reported net income of $29.8 million for 2025, compared with a net loss of $47.7 million for 2024. Cash used in operations was $33.5 million in 2025 and $67.7 million in 2024. Year-end cash and cash equivalents were $78.0 million at the end of 2024, against $50.8 million at March 31, 2026.
