MetaVia Inc. (Nasdaq: MTVA) said on May 18, 2026 that three late-breaking abstracts from its cardiometabolic portfolio were accepted for poster presentations at the American Diabetes Association's 2026 Scientific Sessions. The meeting runs June 5 to 8, 2026, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. All three posters are scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm ET.
The three posters
The first poster covers DA-1726, the company's oxyntomodulin analog for obesity. Its title is Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmacodynamics of DA-1726, an Oxyntomodulin Analogue: Phase 1 Higher-Dose Cohort Results. Chris Fang, Chief Medical Officer, is the presenting author. The abstract control number is 3102-LB, in session 23-B, listed as Obesity, Human.
The release refers to a license agreement with Dong-A ST Co. Ltd. and lists the benefits of that agreement among its forward-looking risk factors. The second poster, from the Dong-A ST Research Center, examines vanoglipel in combination with resmetirom. Its title refers to synergistic hepatoprotective and weight-loss effects in a diet-induced obese, biopsy-confirmed mouse model of MASH. Tae Hyoung Kim, Lead Research Scientist at Dong-A ST Research Center, is the presenting author. The abstract control number is 3043-LB, in session 22-C.
The third poster examines vanoglipel and metformin. It reports synergistic effects on glycemic control and body weight reduction in a diet-induced obese mouse model. Yuna Chae, Lead Research Scientist at Dong-A ST Research Center, is the presenting author. The abstract control number is 2856-LB, in session 12-D.
Hyung Heon Kim, President and Chief Executive Officer, said that having three late-breaking abstracts accepted at the ADA meeting "is a testament to the strength of our cardiometabolic portfolio." Acceptance of a poster is not a measure of efficacy, and the release gives no results from any of the three.
The two programs
DA-1726 is a novel oxyntomodulin analog that functions as a GLP-1 receptor and glucagon receptor dual agonist. It is designed for once-weekly subcutaneous dosing. The release says DA-1726 is currently being evaluated in a 16-week Phase 1 Part 3 titration study designed to reach higher therapeutic doses with improved tolerability. The company expects to report data from that trial in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Vanoglipel is a GPR119 agonist with development optionality as a standalone or combination therapy for MASH and type 2 diabetes. The release says that in a Phase 2a clinical study, vanoglipel showed direct hepatic action in addition to its glucose-lowering effects. The company's annual report notes that the Phase 2a trial reported positive topline 16-week results in December 2024, which were presented at EASL in May 2025, and that sub-group and additional data were presented at AASLD in November 2025.
MetaVia describes itself as a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on transforming cardiometabolic diseases. The company also has four legacy programs, which it is not planning to advance. It has considered or continues to consider out-licensing and divestiture opportunities for them.
Financial position
The annual report, filed March 26, 2026, shows research and development expense of $6.8 million for 2025, compared with $21.6 million for 2024. Net loss was $13.0 million for 2025 and $27.6 million for 2024. Cash from operations was negative $15.7 million for 2025 and negative $24.7 million for 2024. Cash and cash equivalents at the end of 2024 were $16.0 million.
What the posters can and cannot show
Two of the three posters report combination work in mouse models of MASH and obesity, which cannot show how the drug acts in people. The DA-1726 poster covers a Phase 1 higher-dose cohort, with no figures in the release. The company says the Part 3 titration study aims to reach higher doses with improved tolerability, and expects data in the fourth quarter of 2026. Cash from operations was negative $15.7 million for 2025 against year-end 2024 cash of $16.0 million, and the release says nothing about the company's current cash. The posters will be posted on the company's website after the presentations.
