Palatin Technologies, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company developing first-in-class medicines based on molecules that modulate the melanocortin receptor system. Its product candidates are targeted, receptor-specific therapeutics for diseases with significant unmet medical need. Its development activities focus mainly on MC4R agonists for obesity, including a modified MC4R peptide with an extended drug half-life and an MC4R selective oral small molecule, with potential use in rare MC4R pathway diseases such as hypothalamic obesity. It is also developing MC1R agonist peptides for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as dry eye disease, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy and inflammatory bowel disease. Its FDA-approved melanocortin receptor agonist, Vyleesi, is an as-needed therapy for premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder and was acquired by Cosette in December 2023. The company retains rights to PL9643, which completed an initial Phase 3 trial for dry eye disease and was licensed to Altanispac Labs, LLC in January 2026.
