Marker Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company developing T cell-based immunotherapies for hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Its Multi Antigen Recognizing, or MAR-T, cell technology selectively expands natural tumor-specific T cells from a patient's or donor's blood without genetic modification, and the company says these cells recognize a broad range of tumor-associated antigens. The company licensed the underlying technology from Baylor College of Medicine in March 2018, and BCM used it in seven exploratory clinical trials. The lead autologous product, MT-601, is in a Phase 1 APOLLO study in relapsed lymphoma patients who failed or are ineligible for anti-CD19 CAR-T therapy, and the study has advanced to dose expansion. MT-601 is also in a Phase 1 PANACEA trial for locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic pancreatic cancer in combination with front-line chemotherapy. The FDA granted orphan drug designation to MT-601 for pancreatic cancer in January 2022. An off-the-shelf product, MT-401-OTS, is in the Phase 1 RAPID study for acute myeloid leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes. The company's pancreatic program is supported by a grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and a grant from the NIH Small Business Innovation Research program.
