The picture shows the field, not the companies named.* Q32 Bio Inc. announced on September 14, 2026 that it has appointed José Trevejo, M.D., Ph.D., as Chief Medical Officer and Ellie Hershberger, Pharm.D., as Chief Development Officer. The company is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on alopecia areata and other autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Its common stock trades on the Nasdaq under QTTB. Chief Executive Officer Jodie Morrison said the hires come "in line with our preparations to advance bempikibart into a registration-directed program." She described Trevejo as a seasoned biotechnology executive and physician-scientist, and Hershberger as a drug development leader with extensive experience in late-stage development operations and regulatory strategy. ## Dr. Trevejo's background Trevejo was most recently Chief Medical Officer and Head of Clinical Pipeline Strategy at Enveda Therapeutics, Inc., an AI-enabled drug discovery company. The release says he helped advance multiple clinical-stage candidates there, including a Phase 2 candidate for atopic dermatitis. Before Enveda, he was Chief Medical Officer at Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, where he helped lead the FDA approval and successful launch of XDEMVY, the first FDA-approved treatment for Demodex blepharitis. He was previously Chief Development Officer at Rocket Pharmaceuticals, a company advancing genetic medicines for rare diseases. He was also Chief Executive Officer and founder of SmartPharm Therapeutics, a non-viral gene therapy company acquired by Sorrento Therapeutics in 2020. Earlier he held clinical development leadership roles at Cyclerion Therapeutics, Visterra, Genentech and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Cornell-Rockefeller-Sloan Kettering Tri-Institutional M.D.-Ph.D. Program. The release describes him as having over 20 years of experience spanning dermatology and late-stage clinical development. ## Dr. Hershberger's background Hershberger was most recently Chief Development Officer at Adagio Therapeutics, now Invivyd. There she led the development organization and advanced the company's lead monoclonal antibody candidate from IND-enabling activities through Phase 3 clinical development. She also helped build the development infrastructure to support global approval and contributed to the company's initial public offering, which raised approximately $356 million in gross proceeds. Before Adagio, she was Executive Director and Head of Clinical Research at Visterra. She held senior clinical development roles at Merck, Cubist Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer. The release describes her as having more than 30 years of drug development expertise. ## Company plans Q32 Bio is advancing bempikibart (ADX-914), a fully human anti-IL-7Rα antibody, for alopecia areata in an ongoing Phase 2 program. Trevejo called the Part B results of the SIGNAL-AA program encouraging, citing meaningful hair regrowth, early signs of durability in the off-drug period and a generally well-tolerated safety profile. Those are the company's characterizations, and the remarks quoted give no response rates, patient numbers or safety counts to test them. The company plans to advance bempikibart into a registration-directed program in alopecia areata in the first half of 2027. It also plans to expand development into additional populations and indications. ## What the hires do not change Bempikibart is still in a Phase 2 program, and the registration-directed program is a plan for the first half of 2027, not a started trial. Two senior hires do not show the drug works in a controlled setting. The financial picture is uneven. For 2025, Q32 Bio reported revenue of $53.7 million against none in 2024, and net income of $29.8 million against a net loss of $47.7 million, while research and development expense fell to $19.2 million from $48.1 million and operations used $33.5 million of cash. Cash and cash equivalents were $48.3 million at the end of 2025 and $106.3 million at June 30, 2026. The announcement does not say what funded the rise or whether the 2025 revenue will recur.
