Nuwellis, Inc. (Nasdaq: [NUWE](https://aibio.space/companies/nuwellis/)) reported financial results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2026, in a press release filed with a Form 8-K on August 13, 2026. Net sales were $2.0 million in the second quarter, a 14% increase compared with the prior-year period, and U.S. revenue rose 17%. Net sales for the first six months of 2026 were $4.4 million, a 20% increase, and U.S. revenue rose 24%. The company says recent capital raises and warrant exercises extend its cash runway through the second quarter of 2027.

## The quarter

Gross margin in the second quarter improved to 76%, compared with 56% in the prior-year quarter. The company credits improved pricing, product mix and the transition to contract manufacturing. The company sold nine consoles in the second quarter, compared with three in the second quarter of 2025, and 24 consoles in the first half of 2026, compared with five in the first half of 2025. The release says the growing installed base is expected to bolster recurring circuit revenue, which the company calls its primary driver of long-term growth.

First-half revenue rose in every core customer category. Pediatrics grew 29%, critical care grew 28% and heart failure grew 27%. The release says U.S. revenue growth outpaced the company average, which included lower international, service and rental revenue. U.S. circuit and console average selling prices increased about 5% and 3%, respectively, compared with the prior-year quarter, reflecting pricing adjustments made in the third quarter of 2025.

Operating expenses were about $4.7 million in the second quarter, compared with $3.9 million a year earlier. The company says the increase reflects planned investments in commercial expansion and product development. The net loss was about $4.8 million. That figure includes about $1.7 million of non-cash warrant valuation expense tied to the June 2026 financing, and the company compares it with a net loss of $12.6 million in the prior-year quarter.

## Capital and cash

The company says it raised $6.0 million in gross proceeds through a June registered direct offering. After June 30, 2026, it raised about $6.7 million in gross proceeds from a July financing and warrant exercises. The release breaks that figure into $3.4 million from the July financing and $3.3 million from warrant exercise proceeds. The company says the financing activity simplified its capitalization structure.

The release says cash and cash equivalents were about $3.9 million as of June 30, 2026. The company's annual figures from its 10-K filed March 11, 2026, show revenue of $8.3 million for 2025, compared with $8.7 million for 2024, and a net loss of $17.5 million for 2025.

## Leadership and regulatory progress

Mike McCormick became President and Chief Executive Officer effective June 30, 2026. In the release, he said: "Nuwellis has an established commercial foundation with differentiated strength in pediatrics and momentum in critical care." The company also said that, following a successful U.S. Food and Drug Administration pre-submission meeting, it advanced the proposed Aquadex label expansion to patients weighing 5 kilograms or more, from patients weighing 20 kilograms or more.

## What comes next

The growth is real but small in dollars. Net sales were $2.0 million in the second quarter against operating expenses of about $4.7 million, and the net loss was about $4.8 million. Console sales lifted the first half, but the release says the recurring circuit revenue is the real driver of long-term growth, and it also reports lower international, service and rental revenue. The runway through the second quarter of 2027 rests on capital raised in June and July, not on operating cash, and the release states cash and cash equivalents of about $3.9 million at June 30, 2026. Cash used in operations was $10.8 million in 2025. The release calls the FDA pre-submission meeting successful but does not say the FDA has cleared the proposed label change, and it gives no date for it.
