Niagen Bioscience, Inc. (Nasdaq: [NAGE](https://aibio.space/companies/niagen-bioscience/)), formerly ChromaDex Corp., said on March 19, 2026 that its board of directors had raised the share repurchase program from $10 million to $20 million of the company's outstanding common stock. Through March 17, 2026, the company had repurchased about $2.6 million of its stock under the program. It says further repurchases will be reported in its periodic reports filed with the SEC. The program runs through October 31, 2027, unless the board modifies, suspends or ends it earlier, and the company is not obliged to buy any particular amount.

## How the buying can happen

Repurchases may be made from time to time, in amounts and at times set by management. The company says they may be carried out through open market transactions, privately negotiated transactions, or under a trading plan it may adopt in the future. The release gives no average price paid for the $2.6 million, no share count for it, and no source of funds for the additional $10 million. It names no broker, bank, placement agent or counsel for the program.

Chief Executive Rob Fried said the company will keep buying opportunistically, because the market value of NAGE stock is out of line with the strength of the business. That is the company's own reading. The release offers no independent valuation to support it.

## The company behind the program

Cody Resources, a Nevada public company, signed a merger agreement with ChromaDex, Inc. on May 21, 2008, and changed its name to ChromaDex Corporation on June 20, 2008. ChromaDex became listed on the Nasdaq Capital Market on April 25, 2016. On March 12, 2017 it acquired Healthspan Research LLC, a consumer products company offering Tru Niagen branded products. The company says it commercialized food-grade Niagen, a proprietary form of nicotinamide riboside, in 2013.

Niagen powers Tru Niagen, a consumer oral supplement, and Niagen Plus, which features pharmaceutical-grade intravenous and injectable products. The release says those injectables are compounded and distributed by FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities and are available only at clinics with a prescription. The annual report adds that compound pharmacies abroad also compound and distribute Niagen IV and injectable forms. The release calls Tru Niagen the number one NAD+ boosting oral supplement in the United States. Its footnote bases that on the top-selling dietary supplement brands by revenue on the largest U.S. e-commerce marketplace, for 2024 only.

The annual report puts the number of published human clinical studies on NAD+ and its impact on health at more than 525. It also cites more than 300 research collaborations built through the ChromaDex External Research Program. Those counts are the company's own.

## The financial picture

The annual report for 2025, filed March 4, 2026, shows revenue of $129.4 million for 2025, against $99.6 million for 2024. Net income was $17.4 million, against $8.6 million. Research and development expense was $6.3 million, against $6.0 million. Cash provided by operations was $13.5 million in 2025, against $12.1 million a year earlier. Year-end 2024 cash and cash equivalents were $44.5 million, as reported in the annual report filed March 4, 2025.

The authorization is larger than the $13.5 million of cash the business provided from operations in 2025. The release does not say how the company would pay for purchases beyond what it has already made, and it does not give a cash balance for any date after the annual report.

## What the release leaves open

The release gives no timetable for the buying, no average price and no share count for the $2.6 million already bought. It does not say how much of the program remains unused beyond that amount, and it does not set the buyback against the company's current cash position. The periodic reports the company says it will file are where the buying and its price would first be recorded, and that is where the program's real size will show.
