Tickers [MDWD](https://aibio.space/companies/mediwound/)

MediWound ended 2025 with $53.6 million in cash, cash equivalents and deposits after a $30.0 million registered direct offering. Its net loss narrowed to $23.9 million mainly because of warrant revaluation, while revenue fell to $17.0 million.

MediWound Ltd. reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results on March 5, 2026. The company, which is based in Yavne, Israel, said it had $53.6 million in cash, cash equivalents and deposits at December 31, 2025, up from $43.6 million a year earlier. It credited a $30.0 million registered direct offering during 2025, a sale of registered shares made directly to investors, and $3.5 million from Series A warrant exercises. The release does not name a placement agent or any investor in that offering.

## Cash used against the headline balance

During 2025, MediWound said it used $21.4 million in cash to fund operating activities. The structured financial data attached to its annual report on Form 20-F, filed the same day, put cash used in operations at $16.1 million for 2025. The release does not reconcile the two figures.

The same structured data show cash and cash equivalents alone at $4.8 million at the end of 2025, down from $9.2 million a year earlier. The $53.6 million headline total therefore includes deposits and other balances that the release does not break out.

## Revenue fell, and the loss narrowed on warrants

Revenue for 2025 was $17.0 million, against $20.2 million in 2024. The company blamed the decline mainly on the U.S. government shutdown, which delayed budget approvals and new contracts, and on lower product sales to Vericel Corporation, its U.S. commercial partner for NexoBrid. Fourth-quarter revenue fell to $1.9 million from $5.8 million.

The net loss narrowed to $23.9 million, or $2.10 per share, from $30.2 million, or $3.03 per share. The release says the improvement was primarily driven by $2.2 million of non-cash financial income from revaluing warrants in 2025, compared with $10.7 million of non-cash financial expense from the same revaluation in 2024. The operating loss moved the other way, widening to $25.3 million from $19.4 million. The adjusted EBITDA loss was $20.3 million, against $14.8 million a year earlier.

## A Phase III trial that has not read out

EscharEx is in the Phase III VALUE trial in venous leg ulcers, which targets 216 patients at about 40 sites in the U.S. and Europe. MediWound said the pre-specified interim sample size assessment and enrollment completion are expected by year-end 2026. The release reports no efficacy results from the trial. A Phase II study in diabetic foot ulcers and an investigator-initiated trial in pressure ulcers are planned for the second half of 2026.

The annual report says a deviation at a third-party testing lab kept Vericel from releasing NexoBrid into the U.S. commercial channel until the FDA reached an agreement on the matter, delaying the U.S. launch by a few months. The expanded manufacturing plant is now operational and, the company says, raises capacity sixfold. Commercial supply from that plant remains subject to regulatory approvals that the company expects in 2026.

## Guidance that rests on government money

MediWound reaffirmed revenue guidance of $24 to $26 million for 2026, $32 to $35 million for 2027 and $50 to $55 million for 2028. The 2026 range sits above the $17.0 million booked in 2025. The company says the guidance assumes continued support from BARDA and the U.S. Department of War. The 2028 outlook includes a potential initial contribution from EscharEx, which is subject to regulatory approval.

## What is still open

The release gives no cash-burn outlook for 2026, and it does not name the placement agent for the $30.0 million offering. The company lists research collaborations for EscharEx with B. Braun, Coloplast/Kerecis, Convatec, Essity, Mölnlycke, Solventum and MIMEDX, but the release does not describe the financial terms of any of them. The checkpoints the company names are the interim assessment and enrollment completion, both expected by year-end 2026, and the NexoBrid approvals expected in 2026.
