Korro Bio, Inc. (Nasdaq: [KRRO](https://aibio.space/companies/korro-bio/)) said on November 12, 2025 that it had implemented a strategic restructuring, including a workforce reduction of about 34%, to extend its cash runway. The company disclosed the move in a [Form 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1703647/000119312525277556/krro-20251107.htm) that also covered the Novo Nordisk pause, the resignation of its chief medical officer and third quarter results.

## The restructuring

Under Item 2.05, Korro says the restructuring took effect on November 12, 2025. It estimates one-time restructuring charges of about $2.4 million, covering severance, benefits and related termination costs. Most of the charges are expected in the three months ended December 31, 2025. The company says actual results may differ materially, and it may incur other material charges it does not now contemplate.

The press release says the cuts affect all levels of the organization. It says the restructuring extends the cash runway into the second half of 2027, enough, in Korro's words, to deliver clinical data from its KRRO-121 program, advance at least one additional program and pursue partnership talks.

## Cash and losses

Korro reported cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities of $102.5 million as of September 30, 2025. That compares with $163.1 million at December 31, 2024. For the three months ended September 30, 2025, it reported a net loss of $18.1 million, down from $21.0 million a year earlier. Collaboration revenue was $1.1 million, all from the Novo Nordisk agreement.

## The Novo Nordisk pause

Effective November 11, 2025, Korro and Novo Nordisk amended their research collaboration and license agreement dated September 13, 2024. Under that agreement Korro had granted Novo Nordisk an exclusive worldwide license under certain intellectual property for an initial target in the cardiometabolic field, with a second target to be nominated by Novo Nordisk.

The amendment pauses the agreement for 12 months. All research and development activities and related obligations are suspended during that period, and neither party has a liability or payment obligation. Korro agreed to wind down its work under the agreement promptly, and Novo Nordisk agreed to reimburse certain wind-down costs. Novo Nordisk keeps the right to replace the collaboration target with a substitution target. The release says the pause lets the parties reassess the rationale for the current target.

## Chief medical officer resigns

Olukemi A. Olugemo, M.D., FAAN, resigned as chief medical officer on November 7, 2025, to pursue another opportunity, effective November 12. She will serve as an adviser for three months. Her separation agreement, effective November 7, provides benefits outside the change-in-control period of her employment agreement dated May 13, 2024. Korro extended the exercise period for her stock options, vested as of the end of the advisory period, through April 30, 2027. The filing says the departure is not related to any disagreement with Korro about its management, operations, policies or practices.

## The pipeline setback

The release says KRRO-110, an RNA editing candidate for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, produced functional protein in patients after a single administration. The protein levels did not reach what the company had projected from preclinical data. Among five patients evaluable by turbidimetry, the greatest peak total AAT protein was approximately 10 µM, with a greatest increase from baseline of approximately 3 µM, and levels did not reach the protective threshold of 11 µM. Seven patients had been dosed at 0.6 mg/kg and 0.8 mg/kg. Mild-to-moderate infusion-related reactions occurred, all resolved within 24 hours, and no dose-limiting toxicities were reported. The CEO attributed the shortfall to differences in the pharmacokinetics of the delivery components between healthy volunteers and patients. Korro plans to pivot to a GalNAc-conjugated construct for the disease, with a development candidate nomination expected in the first half of 2026. It has also nominated KRRO-121 for patients with hyperammonemia.

## What the filings leave out

The 8-K and release do not give the company's operating expenses for the quarter or any date by which KRRO-121 data are expected, and they do not say how much the Novo Nordisk wind-down reimbursement is worth. The runway claim rests on the restructuring, a 12-month pause and a pipeline that has just missed one of its targets.
