On May 7, 2026, Bluejay Diagnostics, Inc. (NASDAQ: [BJDX](https://aibio.space/companies/bluejay-diagnostics/)) provided a corporate update on its progress during the first quarter of 2026. The update covered the clinical, manufacturing and regulatory work supporting its Symphony near-patient diagnostic platform. The company reported cash and cash equivalents of approximately $3.7 million as of March 31, 2026.

## Financial highlights

Bluejay reported a net loss of approximately $1.9 million for the first quarter of 2026, compared with approximately $1.9 million for the same period in 2025. The company said it has continued to manage operating expenses with financial discipline while prioritizing its clinical, manufacturing and regulatory activities for the Symphony program.

The cash balance is thin. Cash was approximately $3.7 million at March 31, 2026, against a first-quarter net loss of approximately $1.9 million and cash used in operations of $6.1 million in 2025, and the release gives no runway estimate and no new financing. The "financial discipline" is the company's own description, and the loss was flat with the year-earlier quarter at approximately $1.9 million. Bluejay's XBRL financial data, drawn from its annual report filed March 6, 2026, shows a net income (loss) of negative $6.8 million for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, compared with negative $7.7 million for 2024. Cash from operations was negative $6.1 million for 2025, compared with negative $7.8 million for 2024.

## Clinical and manufacturing progress

The release says the SYMON-II pivotal study had enrolled approximately 680 patients as of May 5, 2026, toward a target of 750 patients across participating clinical sites. Bluejay described its enrollment momentum as continuing.

On manufacturing, the company said it worked with Sanyoseiko Co. Ltd., its contract manufacturing organization, on readiness activities for Symphony cartridges. It said it had resolved technical issues related to the cartridge manufacturing process and was progressing toward the analytical and clinical validation activities that support a future regulatory submission.

Neil Dey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bluejay Diagnostics, said: "We believe the first quarter of 2026 represented meaningful operational progress across several key areas of our Symphony program."

## Quarterly highlights

The release lists four highlights for the quarter: continued enrollment in SYMON-II, advanced manufacturing readiness with Sanyoseiko, continued execution of the FDA-focused regulatory strategy for Symphony IL-6, and continued development of the broader Symphony platform. The platform work includes possible future applications in additional critical care biomarkers and in cardiovascular disease monitoring. Dey said the company is focused on progressing toward regulatory readiness and future commercialization opportunities for Symphony.

## The Symphony program

The Symphony IL-6 Test is designed to determine patient acuity for sepsis triage and monitoring based on the measurement of a specific biomarker, and it is currently Bluejay's lead product candidate. The SYMON Clinical Study Program includes SYMON-I, a pilot study of IL-6 levels associated with endpoints including 28-day all-cause mortality and in-hospital mortality; SYMON-II, the pivotal study intended to validate the SYMON-I outcomes and support a 510(k) application; and SYMON-III, a pilot study of IL-6 levels in patients presenting with increasing severity of infection in the emergency department.

The release notes that the Symphony platform is an investigational device and is limited by United States law to investigational use.

## What is still ahead

The quarter's highlights are process steps, not results. The company had to resolve technical issues in the cartridge manufacturing process, which the release says were solved but does not describe. SYMON-II has not reported data, and the release gives no timing for validation work. Bluejay said it is maintaining its objective of preparing for a future 510(k) submission to the FDA after completing the required analytical and clinical validation activities. It also described continued work on the broader Symphony platform, including possible future applications in additional critical care biomarkers and cardiovascular disease monitoring. The release does not give dates for these steps. The company says it does not yet have regulatory clearance for the Symphony System and will need FDA authorization before it can be marketed as a diagnostic product in the United States.
