## The going concern paragraph

Armata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE American: [ARMP](https://aibio.space/companies/armata-pharmaceuticals/)) said on May 1, 2025 that the audit opinion in its annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2024 contains a going concern explanatory paragraph. The company filed that report with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 21, 2025. It made the announcement under NYSE American Company Guide Sections 401(h) and 610(b), and it says the disclosure does not change its financial statements or the annual report.

The release does not give the auditor's reasons, the company's cash balance or the amount of cash used in operations.

## A new Department of Defense payment

Armata said it received an additional $4.65 million of non-dilutive funding under a previously announced Department of Defense award. The payment came through the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium and was managed by the Naval Medical Research Command, Naval Advanced Medical Development, with funding from the Defense Health Agency and the Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program. The award now totals $26.2 million and supports clinical development of AP-SA02, a phage candidate for complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia.

The company says the new money will pay for close-out work on the Phase 2a study and for preparing and holding an end-of-phase 2 meeting with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The release does not say how the $4.65 million compares with the company's operating costs, so it does not show how long the payment extends the company's funding.

## The diSArm trial and the blinded subsets

The diSArm study is a Phase 1b/2a, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multiple ascending dose escalation study of intravenous AP-SA02 as an add-on to the best available antibiotic therapy, compared with that therapy alone, in adults with Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. The company says it fully enrolled 50 subjects in November 2024, and the last patient visit took place in January 2025. Armata says it escalated doses to 5e10 PFU every six hours, or 2E11 PFU every 24 hours, for five days without clinically significant adverse events.

The release also describes two subsets of treated subjects. One subset, which the company says is about half of the treated group, showed detectable phage in the blood, which the company describes as consistent with phage multiplying in the body. The release calls these subsets blinded. The company says it will examine them without blinding once topline data arrive, and that the data will inform the dose used in a larger efficacy study.

That sequence matters. The subset observations were made while the trial remained blinded, so they do not yet compare treated patients with placebo patients. The company describes topline data as expected in the next few weeks, and the release does not give a date for the larger study. The release headline says the topline data are anticipated in Q2 2025 to support a potential future pivotal bacteremia efficacy trial.

## The earlier lung infection data

The annual report business section, filed March 21, 2025, describes three completed Phase 2 trials with two phage cocktails. The company says that puts it on a critical path toward pivotal Phase 3 studies. One of them is the Tail wind study of inhaled AP-PA02 in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, reported in December 2024.

The report says the study ran two cohorts, and that the efficacy analysis of each cohort alone showed no significant difference between AP-PA02 and placebo, because each group was small. The company then ran a post-hoc intent-to-treat analysis of all subjects from both cohorts, with 33 on active drug and 15 on placebo. That analysis showed a statistically significant reduction in lung P. aeruginosa colony forming units at day 17, at P=0.05. The report calls that analysis post-hoc, which means it was not the pre-specified primary test. A post-hoc result from a small study is weaker evidence than a prespecified endpoint, and neither cohort showed a significant difference on its own.

## What the going concern note leaves open

The release gives no detail on the going concern paragraph. The DoD money is non-dilutive and tied to one program. The unblinded diSArm readout is still to come.
