Aptevo Therapeutics Inc. said on October 14, 2026 that it will feature its multispecific platform in a presentation at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) 2026 Annual Meeting. The meeting runs November 4 to 8, 2026, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The announcement appears in an [exhibit to the 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1671584/000119312526421076/apvo-ex99_1.htm).

## The presentation

The abstract is number 1060, and the presenter is Michelle Nelson, PhD, with colleagues. According to the release, the presentation will cover Aptevo's broader CD40-directed multispecific portfolio and the company's approach to bringing together two arms of the immune system, innate and adaptive immunity, within the tumor microenvironment. The abstract title refers to localizing CD40 agonism to the tumor in order to overcome an immunosuppressive microenvironment and potentiate anti-tumor immunity.

The release explains that solid tumors can suppress or disrupt anti-tumor immune responses. Aptevo's tumor-directed CD40-activating molecules also act on the cells that mediate tumor cell killing. The company says these molecules are designed to localize immune activation to the tumor and to promote a more complete anti-tumor response.

Mary Janatpour, PhD, Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Aptevo, said: "Our multispecific technology is designed to bring complementary mechanisms together in a single molecule and create a deeper immune response within the tumor microenvironment."

Aptevo says a copy of the presentation will be posted on the Publications page of its website after the meeting. The release does not include any data from the presentation, so there is nothing yet to judge.

## The company and its platform

Aptevo describes itself as a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel multispecific immunotherapies for cancer. Its pipeline candidates are created from its proprietary ADAPTIR and ADAPTIR-FLEX platform technologies. The company's 10-K says it has two clinical candidates and six preclinical candidates, and that all eight were developed with those platforms, which Aptevo wholly owns.

The lead clinical candidate, mipletamig, is a CD123xCD3 T cell engager. It is being evaluated in the RAINIER trial, part one of a Phase 1b/2 program initiated in August 2024, for frontline acute myelogenous leukemia in combination with venetoclax and azacitidine. Clinical candidate ALG.APV-527 targets 4-1BB and 5T4. It is designed to reactivate antigen-primed T cells to kill tumor cells and is being evaluated for multiple solid tumor types. The 10-K says the company has built out its CD3 engaging portfolio to five molecules.

The 10-K says the company has developed two platform technologies for rational design of precision immune modulatory drugs. It describes the ADAPTIR platform as generating monospecific and bispecific immunotherapeutic proteins, which it says may have structural and functional advantages over monoclonal antibodies. The company also says it believes it is skilled at candidate generation, validation, and subsequent preclinical and clinical development.

## The financial position

The XBRL data show research and development expense of $14.5 million for 2025, compared with $14.4 million for 2024. The net loss was $26.0 million in 2025 and $24.1 million in 2024. Operations used $25.6 million of cash in 2025 and $23.8 million in 2024.

Year-end 2025 cash and cash equivalents were $21.6 million, according to a 10-Q filed August 14, 2026, compared with $8.7 million at year-end 2024. The XBRL data also show $9.8 million of cash and cash equivalents at June 30, 2026.

## What the announcement leaves out

The release shows no animal or human results, no safety findings and no timeline for taking a CD40 molecule into patients. The company's own words, "designed to" and "we believe we have an opportunity", describe intent, not evidence. Neither of the two clinical candidates named in the 10-K, mipletamig and ALG.APV-527, is described there as a CD40 molecule, so the CD40 work appears to be earlier than the company's clinical programs. A conference presentation is also not peer-reviewed proof.

The money side is tighter. Cash used in operations was $25.6 million in 2025, and cash and cash equivalents were $9.8 million at June 30, 2026. The company has no product revenue, so more programs mean a larger need for new funding, and any raise could dilute current holders. The next dated event in the release is the SITC meeting, which runs November 4 to 8, 2026.
