AEON Biopharma, Inc. (NYSE American: [AEON](https://aibio.space/companies/aeon-biopharma/)) reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, on August 12, 2026, and provided a corporate update. The headline items were a $15.3 million financing completed in July 2026, with milestone warrants that could bring up to an additional $34.0 million in gross proceeds, and cash and cash equivalents of $3.4 million at June 30, 2026. Chief Executive Officer Rob Bancroft said: "The second quarter marked continued progress in advancing ABP-450 through the analytical phase of our biosimilar development program while also strengthening the Company's financial position."

## Regulatory progress

AEON held a Biosimilar Biological Product Development (BPD) Type 2a meeting with the FDA in the first quarter of 2026. The agency reviewed the company's analytical similarity strategy under the 351(k) biosimilar pathway and provided feedback supporting AEON's planned analytical approach. The FDA acknowledged the scientific challenges of characterizing the 900 kDa botulinum neurotoxin complex. AEON expects feedback from its planned BPD Type 2b interaction in the second half of 2026, which is expected to inform the next phase, including clinical pharmacology and comparative clinical study requirements.

The company also presented data at two medical meetings. In April 2026 it presented a poster at the 2026 American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting on primary structure comparability between ABP-450 and OnabotulinumtoxinA, based on 93.5% to 99.3% peptide sequence coverage. In June 2026 it presented an abstract at the American Headache Society Annual Meeting on structural and functional comparability.

## The financing and the company

The release says the company completed an underwritten public offering in July 2026 that included net upfront proceeds of approximately $13.6 million, and up to an additional $34.0 million in potential gross proceeds upon the cash exercise in full of the milestone warrants. The release does not name the underwriters. The $3.4 million of cash at June 30 does not include those net proceeds. Including them, cash and cash equivalents are expected to fund operations into the first quarter of 2027.

On August 3, 2026, AEON regained full compliance with NYSE American continued listing requirements, resolving previously identified deficiencies. For 2025, AEON reported research and development expense of $4.1 million, compared with $14.2 million for 2024. The net loss was $39.2 million for 2025. Cash flow from operations was negative $17.3 million in 2025 and negative $20.3 million in 2024. Year-end cash and cash equivalents were $3.0 million at December 31, 2025, according to the 10-Q filed August 12, 2026.

AEON describes itself as a biopharmaceutical company pursuing full-label access to the U.S. therapeutic neurotoxin market through biosimilarity to BOTOX. The release says that market exceeds $3.0 billion annually. ABP-450 is the same botulinum toxin complex currently approved and marketed for cosmetic indications by Evolus, Inc. under the name Jeuveau. Daewoong Pharmaceutical manufactures it in a facility authorized by the FDA, Health Canada and the European Medicines Agency for third-party botulinum toxin products. The product is approved as a biosimilar in India, Mexico and the Philippines. AEON has exclusive development and distribution rights for therapeutic indications of ABP-450 in the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and certain other international territories.

## Why the runway matters

The cash picture is tight. The $3.4 million on hand at June 30 is small beside the 2025 operating cash outflow of $17.3 million, and the company's own estimate is that even with the July proceeds it can fund operations only into the first quarter of 2027. The extra $34.0 million exists only if holders exercise the milestone warrants for cash, and the release does not say when that might happen. Existing holders face dilution from the offering and from any exercise. The regulatory story is also early. The FDA has so far reviewed only the analytical strategy, the comparative clinical requirements are still unknown, and the company expects feedback on them in the second half of 2026.
