(Nasdaq: [ACET](https://aibio.space/companies/adicet-bio/)) will cut its workforce by about 30% and has discontinued development of ADI-270, its gamma delta T cell program for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma. It disclosed both steps in a [Form 8-K filed July 23, 2025](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1720580/000095017025097881/acet-20250722.htm). The company says the cut, combined with other expense reductions, should extend its cash runway into the fourth quarter of 2026. ## The cost of the cut Adicet's board approved the reduction on July 22, 2025. The filing says it applies to about 30% of the current employee base and will be substantially completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025. The company expects personnel-related charges of about $2.3 million, mostly one-time cash payments for termination, severance and other benefits, in the same quarter. The 8-K also says Adicet may incur other charges "not currently contemplated," and that its cost estimates "are subject to a number of assumptions and actual results may differ." The annual report counted 152 full-time employees as of December 31, 2024. ## What stays and what goes Adicet will focus on two programs. ADI-001 is in Phase 1 studies for autoimmune indications. ADI-212, which targets prostate specific membrane antigen, is described as an optimized, gene-edited candidate. The company says ADI-212 has shown enhanced activity in IND-enabling studies, meaning studies done before a first trial in patients. Those studies are not patient data, and the 8-K gives no numbers for them. The comparison with earlier CAR T programs is the company's own belief. The annual report had said ADI-001 would produce lupus nephritis data in the first half of 2025. The 8-K does not report those data. The annual report also lists planned Phase 1 starts in lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, vasculitis, inflammatory myopathy and stiff person syndrome. ## Five patients, no progression The 8-K discloses results from the ADI-270 trial it is closing. As of a July 23, 2025 data cut, five patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma who had received an immune checkpoint inhibitor and a VEGF inhibitor were treated at the target dose of 1 billion CAR+ cells, followed by a second dose of 300 million CAR+ cells. Adicet reports a 100% disease control rate and a 20% best overall response rate, with no patient progressing after dosing. It also reports expansion in blood and tumor biopsies, and no reports of cytokine release syndrome or immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome. Those results come from a very small group of patients, with no comparison arm, and the 8-K gives no response durations and no follow-up beyond the data cut. The company is stopping the program anyway, so the figures will not advance it. The filing calls tolerability favorable, but its only support is the absence of those reported syndromes. ## The money behind the runway The company's 2024 net loss was $117.1 million, and its accumulated deficit reached $497.9 million at December 31, 2024. The annual report shows $176.3 million in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments at that date, plus $2.9 million of restricted cash. It says those funds should cover forecasted operating expenses and debt service for at least the next twelve months. Adicet raised money in early 2024. An underwritten public offering of common stock and pre-funded warrants in January 2024 brought in about $91.7 million net of underwriting discounts and expenses. Sales under an at-the-market program that month brought in about $19.3 million net of sales agent commissions. The runway guidance in the 8-K is dated July 2025, and the annual report balance is from December 31, 2024. The company does not give a cash balance for 2025 in the 8-K.
