## Roche faces a run of FDA decisions while older drugs fade

Roche has a large revenue base and an unusually dense run of FDA dates between late November and February. The pipeline is deep, but growth depends on new launches outpacing the decline of older drugs. Currency and China pricing add noise.

## Fact-check-o-meter

Some gaps

Roche's trial releases use strong wording, and the records qualify it in four of the releases reviewed

Roche's half-year report and sales release are consistent with each other, and the company shows its currency drag openly. The gaps are in how the trial releases are worded: fenebrutinib's disability claim has a confidence interval that crosses 1, enicepatide's primary endpoint timepoint differs from its registry entry, giredestrant's "first significant advance" wording rests on an open-label trial with immature survival data, and divarasib is predicted to be a new standard of care without a single effect size. No securities litigation is disclosed.

1. Press release vs filing · weight medium Five new late-stage medicines in the release, CHF 1.0 billion of stopped compounds in the report **The company said:** "We advanced another five potential new medicines into the final stage of development this year and now aim to bring up to 20 new medicines to patients by 2030." [source](https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2026-10-22) **The record says:** The half-year report says "The Pharmaceuticals Division recorded impairment charges to intangible assets of CHF 1.0 billion due to decisions to stop the development of the respective compounds," including CHF 0.4 billion for selnoflast, CHF 0.2 billion for acmopatide (CT-868) and CHF 0.2 billion for a PD-1-regulated IL-2 programme. It also says IFRS diluted EPS fell 8% in Swiss francs "due to the additional effects of the appreciation of the Swiss franc and intangible asset impairment", and rose 5% at constant exchange rates. [source](https://assets.roche.com/f/176343/x/8a0b362d66/hy26e.pdf) **Our view:** The sales release is about sales and does not mention terminated programs, so this is a gap in emphasis, not a contradiction. The half-year report says the stopped compounds were acquired in the Inflazome, Carmot and Good Therapeutics deals.
2. Science · weight high Fenebrutinib: "slow disability" rests on a non-inferiority result **The company said:** "Fenebrutinib became the first investigational medicine in more than a decade to slow disability progression in a phase III PPMS trial (FENtrepid), with numerical benefit vs Ocrevus." [source](https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2026-10-22) **The record says:** Roche's Sept. 30 release says FENtrepid "met its primary endpoint of non-inferiority compared with Ocrevus" and that fenebrutinib "numerically reduced the risk of progression by 12%" (hazard ratio 0.88, 95% confidence interval 0.75, 1.03). It adds that liver enzyme elevations were "observed more often with fenebrutinib compared to Ocrevus in the PPMS study" and that "an imbalance in reported fatalities was observed across the three pivotal studies", and that "the deaths occurred at different timepoints and had various causes". ClinicalTrials.gov lists 985 participants and a primary outcome of time to onset of composite 12-week confirmed disability progression. [source](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04544449) **Our view:** The sales release uses the word "numerical", which is accurate, but the interval includes no effect, so the trial shows fenebrutinib is not worse than Ocrevus rather than better. The liver and fatality language sits in the standalone release and not in the sales summary, and it is part of the safety picture the standalone release describes.
3. Science · weight medium Giredestrant: 30% relative cut is 2.8 points at three years, in an open-label trial **The company said:** "Giredestrant represents the first significant advance in adjuvant endocrine therapy in over 20 years" [source](https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2026-06-02) **The record says:** The same release gives the effect as "92.4% of patients in the giredestrant arm were alive and free of invasive disease versus 89.6% in the SoC ET arm" at three years and says "Overall survival (OS) data were immature at the time of this analysis, but a clear positive trend was observed." It also reports a treatment discontinuation rate of 5.3% for giredestrant versus 8.2% for standard of care endocrine therapy. It calls lidERA "a phase III, randomised, open-label, multicentre study". ClinicalTrials.gov lists 4,170 enrolled, a primary outcome of invasive disease-free survival, and overall survival as a secondary outcome. [source](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04961996) **Our view:** The hazard ratio of 0.70 is clear and the release shows the absolute figures, so it is transparent. Still, a 2.8 point gap at three years, immature survival data and no blinding make "first significant advance in adjuvant endocrine therapy in over 20 years" a strong phrase. The release also reports a clear positive survival trend and the lower discontinuation rate.
4. Science · weight medium Enicepatide: release says week 48 primary endpoints, registry lists week 36 **The company said:** "In the study, enicepatide met both primary endpoints, delivering dose-dependent and clinically meaningful reductions in blood glucose and body weight at 48 weeks." [source](https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2026-09-22) **The record says:** The release states "The dual primary outcomes are changes from baseline in HbA1c and body weight at week 48." The ClinicalTrials.gov record, last updated Oct. 6, 2026, lists the primary outcomes as "Percent Change in Body Weight from Baseline to Week 36" and "Change in Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) from Baseline to Week 36", with the week 48 versions listed as secondary outcomes. [source](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06628362) **Our view:** This may be a protocol change not yet reflected in the registry, and we cannot tell from the record. The release does not say whether the primary timepoint was changed. The headline figures (2.65% HbA1c, 15.5% weight loss) are for the 24 mg arm and the release gives no placebo comparison for them.
5. Science · weight medium Divarasib is predicted to be a new standard of care before any effect size is public **The company said:** "These results should establish divarasib as a new standard of care for previously-treated lung cancer patients with this genetically defined tumor subtype." [source](https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2026-07-02) **The record says:** The release describes Krascendo 1 as "randomised, open-label, multicentre" with 338 adults, says the primary endpoint is BICR-assessed progression-free survival with overall survival a secondary endpoint, and states "Statistical significance for overall survival was achieved at the interim analysis". It gives no hazard ratios or medians and says data will be presented at "an upcoming medical meeting". ClinicalTrials.gov lists progression-free survival as the sole primary outcome. [source](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06497556) **Our view:** The release reports statistically significant PFS and OS results head to head against sotorasib or adagrasib. But "best-in-class" and "standard of care" language arrives without numbers, so the size of the benefit and the toxicity trade-off are unknown.
6. Legal and disclosure record · weight low No securities litigation or enforcement disclosed in the latest filing **The record says:** Note 10 of the half-year report lists legal provisions of CHF 166 million at June 30, 2026. It describes the Iraqi Ministry of Health case, where "the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit reaffirmed its prior decision dated 4 January 2022 and remanded the case for further proceedings" on Jan. 23, 2026; a petition for en banc review was denied on April 23, 2026 and the defendants are considering a petition to the US Supreme Court. The note also describes an Italian Competition Authority Statement of Objections issued April 30, 2026 against Genentech, Inc. and other companies, alleging anti-competitive practices aimed at delaying the entry of a biosimilar into the Italian market; Genentech responded on July 17, 2026 and a hearing was planned for July 28, 2026. Roche says of both that "The outcome of this matter cannot be determined at this time." Note 10 lists no securities class action. [source](https://assets.roche.com/f/176343/x/8a0b362d66/hy26e.pdf) **Our view:** Both matters are unresolved, and Roche says it is vigorously defending itself and cannot determine the outcome at this time.
